Short answer: APN stands for Access Point Name. It is a network setting that tells your phone how to connect to mobile data.
Most customers do not need to think about APN during installation. If your phone needs an APN, copy the exact APN shown on your 4S service page or order email.
When do I need to check APN?
- You installed the eSIM, but mobile data does not work.
- Data roaming is on, but websites and apps still do not load.
- Your Android phone asks for an APN.
- You are using a Samsung or Google Pixel device and mobile data is not connecting.
Do iPhone users need to set APN?
Usually no. For iPhone troubleshooting, first check that the correct eSIM label is selected for mobile data and that data roaming is turned on for that same eSIM line.
If iPhone mobile data still does not work, do not start by changing APN. Contact 4S support through support@4s.net, a Zendesk support ticket, or Zendesk live chat with screenshots of your SIM/eSIM list and cellular data settings.
Where can I find the APN?
- Open 4s.net/login, open 4s.net/service, or search your email for hi@4s.net or the subject Start enjoying your eSIM powered by 4S..
- Open the purchased eSIM.
- Look for the APN field.
- Copy the APN exactly as shown. APN values are case-sensitive on some devices.
What should I enter?
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Name | Any name you can recognize, such as 4S, 4S eSIM, Travel, or your destination. This is only a display name on your phone. |
| APN | The most important field. Enter the APN shown on your 4S eSIM page or order email exactly as written. |
| Username | Leave blank unless 4S shows a value for your specific eSIM. |
| Password | Leave blank unless 4S shows a value for your specific eSIM. |
If your APN list is empty
On Android, Samsung, or Google Pixel, the APN list may be empty or may not include the APN shown by 4S. In that case, create a new APN instead of editing a random existing one.
- Open your phone's Access Point Names page.
- Tap the add icon, +, or New APN.
- Enter any recognizable Name, such as 4S, Travel, or your destination.
- Enter the exact APN shown on your 4S service page or order email.
- Leave other fields blank unless 4S shows a specific value for your eSIM.
- Save the APN.
- Select the new APN so your phone uses it for mobile data.
Google Pixel example path
On many Google Pixel phones, the path is:
Settings > Network & internet > SIMs > your eSIM label > Access Point Names > add icon
Menu names can vary by Android version, but the key idea is the same: open the APN list, add a new APN if needed, fill the APN field exactly, save it, and select it.
Do not guess or copy APN settings from another provider. Use the APN shown for your own 4S eSIM.
What if APN does not fix it?
If you are using Android, Samsung, or Google Pixel and mobile data still does not work after entering the APN, contact 4S support through support@4s.net, a Zendesk support ticket, or Zendesk live chat with your ICCID, device model, destination, and screenshots of your APN and SIM/eSIM settings.
Need help? Do not reply to hi@4s.net; it is an automatic sender. Contact 4S support through support@4s.net, a Zendesk support ticket, or Zendesk live chat. Do not email hello@4s.net for support.
