Short answer: install your 4S eSIM before travel, then use it as your mobile data line at your destination.
When your phone asks you to name or label the eSIM during installation, choose a clear label you will recognize later, such as 4S eSIM, your destination country or region, or Travel. If you did not rename it, look for the newly added eSIM, a travel/secondary/business label, or the line that shows No Number.
Travel checklist
- Install the eSIM within 1 month before departure while you have stable Wi-Fi.
- At destination, open your SIM/eSIM settings.
- Turn on the eSIM profile you installed for 4S.
- Select that label for mobile data.
- Turn on data roaming for that same eSIM line.
- Keep your primary SIM on only if you need calls or SMS.
To avoid roaming charges, disable data roaming for your primary SIM or turn off mobile data switching.
